Cluster Hunters Activators Statistics Rules

In order to remember the 50th anniversary of the earthquake, tragic event that struck Friuli on 6 May 1976, the Regional Committee of Friuli Venezia Giulia OdV, with the close collaboration of the A.R.I. Radio Club of GORIZIA, GRADO, MANZANO, MONFALCONE, PORDENONE, SAN DANIELE, TRIESTE and UDINE, establishes a diploma, of a temporary nature, called "ORCOLAT", ("orcaccio", derogatory of the Friulian orcul, "ogre") is a monstrous being that popular tradition indicates as the cause of earthquakes in Friuli, is a recurring figure especially in the stories of popular tradition and would live locked up in the mountains of Carnia; any abrupt agitation of it would cause an earthquake. Since 1976 it has become synonymous with the earthquake that struck Friuli.

Starting from April 25, 2026 from 00:00 Italian time (22:00 UTC) until May 17, 2026 at 23:59 Italian time (21:59 UTC) the commemorative station "IR3ORCO" will be present on the HF and V/UHF amateur radio bands; the special name will be made by the Members of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Sections.

Jolly station: on 06 May, the day of the anniversary, the call sign "IV3PRC" will be transmitted from the Operational Headquarters of the Civil Protection of Friuli Venezia Giulia located in Palmanova (UD). This name will give an additional score.

Bands: the HF and V/UHF bands attributed to the Amateur Radio Service: 80, 60, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, 6, 2, 0.70 meters.

Modes: CW, SSB, FT8, RTTY (baudot), MFSK (FT4 sub-mode only and henceforth called FT4 only) and PSK*. FM (only in V/UHF and repeater bridges are excluded). In total 7 ways.

*Note: PSK mode includes all sub-modes (e.g. PSK31, 63, 125, QPSK). Therefore, if you connect the same station on the same band, e.g. once in PSK31 and a second time in PSK125, the latter QSO will be worth 0 points.
The Special Station IR3ORCO and the IV3PRC jolly station can be worked only once per band and per mode per day. Any DUPE will be discarded from the system without penalty.

Categories: Special Station and wildcard operators will compete only for the Activators category, all others for the Hunter category.

Special Station operators will be able to compete for the Hunter category with their personal contact signs. QSOs between trigger stations are possible but will not provide points.

It is forbidden to use unattended stations. Unlawful behavior may result in exclusion from the ranking. Score: each trigger/hunter QSO completed and validated by the platform will be worth:

1 point: if done in FT4 and FT8
2 points: if done in SSB, RTTY, FM and PSK
3 points: if done in CW

The same score will be acquired by the activating station.

The Diploma is awarded in seven classes, upon achievement of the following scores:

"Basic" Class: 30 points
"Bronze" Class: 40 points
"Silver" Class: 50 points
"Gold" Class: 60 points
"Platinum" Class: 70 points
"Emerald" Class: 90 points
"Diamond" Class: 130 points

Electronic diploma and QSL: they can be downloaded from the Hamaward platform. The Diploma is free of charge and consists of a PDF file. There is no paper variant. It can be downloaded at the end of the event. The electronic QSLs can be downloaded at any time.

SWL: a listening certificate is provided for SWLs who have listened to at least 15 different Oms connected with the Special Station and/or Jolly as per the list. The certificate will be sent exclusively in PDF or JPG by e-mail at the end of the event. For this purpose, send log extracts to the manager once the goal has been reached. Requests must be received no later than 15 days after the end of the event by e-mail: 50orcolat@ari-crfvg.it
SWLs who wish for the QSL confirming their listening must request it no later than 15 days after the end of the event by e-mail to: 50orcolat@ari-crfvg.it

The listening confirmation will only be in electronic mode.

The log extract must contain the following data for each recording: Call sign of the Special Station and/or Jolly listened to, Date, UTC Time, Band, Mode and Call sign in QSO with the station listened to. In the absence of even one of these elements, the request will be rejected. Example of registration:

Rankings: two separate rankings will be drawn up for activator stations and hunters, which will be published on Radio Rivista and on the website of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Committee OdV www.ari-crfvg.it

Hamaward: all activators undertake to use the Hamaward platform for the management of the Diploma and to avoid the use of transmission systems not manned by the operator.
Hunters are invited to register on the www.hamaward.cloud website to verify their QSOs and location in real time, as well as to download Diploma and electronic QSLs.

The first three Activators for the score calculated by the Hamaward platform will be awarded with a plaque.

Please note: the platform is based on the QSOs made, no addition, deletion or modification of one or more QSOs can be made by third parties.

Participation in the Diploma automatically implies acceptance of these regulations and consent to the publication of one's name in the various rankings on the information bodies of the A. R.I., i.e. website and Radio Magazine.
For any dispute, the decision of the Award manager is final and final.
